In addition to our Executive Board, we need volunteers to serve in a variety of roles. We are always in need of volunteers to help out at our youth camp each summer, fill in at our concessions stand at home soccer games, and serve on our various committees.
Our 2025 Committee Chairs and Position Descriptions
Banquet - Michelle Wadley, Deanna Oakes, Michael Wright, Sarah Kuntz, Stacy Nunziato
These people oversee the committee that plans and coordinates the end of the season banquet.
Committee duties include registration, senior gifts, video presentation, food selection, pictures, recognition certificates, and other items.
Meet the Team/Alumni Game - Marci Tomajko, Lindsay McKinnon
This person(s) will coordinate set-up, communicate which grade level will provide what food from each grade, speaking agenda, tables, volunteers, spirit wear sale area, etc.
In 2024, an “ice cream party” was coordinated during the Meet the Team event in lieu of dinner food.
Each player is asked to bring a donation of a beverage (Coke product) to stock concession stand.
Usually in early August before the first game.
Coordinate with Coach Zahn the annual Hoover Soccer Alumni game, typically held towards the beginning of August.
Determine alumni to be contacted.
Arrange sign up for players and coordinate t-shirt orders (with Spirit Wear Chair).
Spirit Wear and Team Bags (Year Round) - Ben Cook
This person(s) coordinates all aspects of spirit wear for Hoover Soccer including ordering and sales.
Youth Camp Shirts for summer youth camp.
Summer league t-shirts (picked by seniors of each team).
Works with Senior Rep from Boys and Girls for warm-ups. Warm-ups to be passed out after August 1, as close to first scrimmage/game as possible.
Youth Camp (April - June) - Lauren Connors, Heather Ash, Lindsay McKinnon
Dates to be set by Coaches in April of each year.
Registration emails and form need to be sent to North Canton City Schools, posted on Schoology and Hoover Soccer Booster Facebook Page.
Coordinate on-site Check-In table, organization and distribution of camp shirts, handle walk-up registrations.
Master Checklist & Timeline has been created and saved in Google Drive.
Concession Stand (August - November) - Sarah Kuntz, Karl Heil
This person(s) will coordinate the set-up, sales and clean up of the concession stand before and after each home game.
This person(s) will be responsible for purchasing and restocking items in the concession stand.
A Parent Square will be sent with slots up for parents to sign up for games (each parent is asked to sign up for at least one game).
Players not having a game that day will also have the option to volunteer to collect community service hours.
Help with pre-season concession needs will also need coordinated on an as-needed basis (i.e. pre-season tournament, etc.).
Car Wash Fundraiser (June - August) - Mike Connors, Scott Zelesnik
This person(s) will coordinate the location of the event (Sergeant Clean)
Will formulate or adjust letter to attach with tickets including incentives for selling 10 and 20 tickets.
Coordinate with Spirit Wear Chair on incentive gifts (t-shirts and hoodies).
Restaurant Fundraisers (Year Round) - Marci Tomajko
Coordinate with local restaurants (Five Guys, Chipotle, etc.) for a Hoover Soccer Night.
Possibly incorporate a “Meet the Parents” night at the beginning of the season.
Normally, a % of the sales comes back to the Booster Club.
Create flyers to distribute across social media platforms, within the schools, and at concessions.
Senior Yard Banners (Girls) - April Stein, Holly Sell (Boys) - Heather Ash, Stacy Nunziato
Coordinate Girl Players creation of signs for every senior player.
Coordinate placement in senior yard before the first game of the season.
Junior Boys Players split up for placement.
Purchases white muslin for each sign needed Purchases orange, black and gold spray paint.
Coordinate muslin sewing project to create pockets for stakes.
Submits receipts to Booster Treasurer for reimbursement.
Verify stake numbers and purchase, if needed.
Senior Representative (Girls) - Molly White (Boys) - Brandi Heffelfinger
This person(s) will be responsible for working with Senior players for their warm up songs, coordinates with Spirit Wear Chair for warm-ups.
Senior Rep needs to collect Senior Bios by the first week of August. A sample bio form can be given to each player. All of this is then given to Mr. Bodenschatz for the program.
Coordinate with Senior parents on all boys team feeds/meals before most weekend home games.
Coordinate painting of soccer balls and senior last names:
Paint over names in black and reletter in orange (if the soccer ball still looks good)
Offer for the parent to paint their child’s name
Youth Nights - Lauren Connors, Heather Ash, Leta Gramlich, Michael Wright
This person(s) will coordinate the preparation, registration and Youth Night activities. One Youth Night is held for each Varsity team (2 nights total) usually in August and/or September.
This Chair can be split between the Boys side and the Girls side, if needed.
Prepare emails with a Google Form link and send to North Canton Soccer Club, Canton United, Community Soccer, and other local area youth soccer clubs.
Share flyer/Google form on Boosters FB page, website, other social media.
Coach Zahn will share registration information on Schoology.
Coordinate volunteers to work at the registration table.
Gather youth players and lead them onto the pitch for Varsity team pre-game announcements (form two lines for Varsity to run through); and during halftime to line up in front of the stands (on the pitch) to be announced by name.
Senior Night (Girls) - Michael Wright, Andrea Otte (Boys) - Jessica Brister, Michelle Wadley
Coaches decide which home game will be Senior Night.
Player Moms are presented with corsages and players receive carnations (typically $800 budget, verify with Booster Treasurer before planning).
Coordinates post-game reception [Local businesses can be asked for food donations, pizzas have been ordered before].
Coordinate the parents arrive early to take pictures by goals, then line up in front of grand stand for introductions.
Bios are read and parents/senior player walk across field and line up, players then go back to bench to start game.
Senior parents get a memory gift - picture with frames have been done in the past.
Coordinate senior gifts (i.e., personalized soccer balls, personalized zip ups, etc.)
Coordinate a Photographer for the evening.
Encourage all JV (boys and girls) teams to attend senior night.
Teacher Appreciation Night (Girls) - Deanna Oakes (Boys) - Tina Bell
Coordinate with coaches to determine game where teachers can be honored.
Varsity players are allowed to invite 2 teachers each.
Coordinate creation of teacher invitations and distribution of invitations. Try to get representation from each player. Will need to avoid duplicates.
Teachers will form a pregame tunnel for players to walk through.
Carnations are ordered for each teacher participating.
Away Game Meals (Girls) - Erin Leuenberger (Boys) - Morgan McIntosh
This person(s) will coordinate away game meals for varsity and all JV teams.
Establish relationship with Jimmy Johns or Subway on Cleveland Avenue in North Canton.
Updates Order Form with options, contact information and cost and emails via booster email to all JV and Varsity parents when teams are announced.
Collects funds from players wanting to participate.
Coordinates order and payment.
Requires the pick up of meals and delivery to buses prior to departure for away games.
For JV Orange: If away game is at same time/location as JV White or Varsity discuss away meals with Coach Zelesnik.
Boys Preseason Tournament Committee (April-June) - Mike & Lauren Connors, Coach Zahn, Tiffany & John Reidinger
Work with the Boys' coaching staff to coordinate preseason tournament to be held on North Canton school property at the end of July.
Coordinate various aspects including pre-tournament coordination (NCCS, referees, concession sales, etc.) and day-of coordination (field marshals, weather related issues, parking, etc.).
Coordinate company sponsorships prior to tournament.
Arrange lunch delivery for referees/field marshalls.
Community Service - Brenda Heil
This person(s) will coordinate community service opportunities for both the boys and girls teams.

It might take a village to raise a child, but it takes a whole community to support a soccer team!
